There are a lot of digital marketing certification courses available both in and out of the Philippines. To help you guys out I’ve narrowed down that list to the courses and certifications that I would personally recommend that you take. These are the certifications that I look for when I’m interviewing new candidates for any digital marketing role in any organization that I’m in.
Facebook BlueprintThis is Facebook’s digital marketing certification program. It’s an e-learning course which means you can take it all online (though Facebook Philippines occasionally offers it to selected clients). What’s good about this course is that you get to learn pretty much everything there is to learn about Facebook — media buying, media planning, creative materials that work, and interpreting analytics (Facebook Insights).
Apart from Facebook, you will also get to learn about how to market and place ads effectively on Instagram, a platform that Facebook owns which a lot of Filipinos, especially the younger generations, love to use.
Taking the e-learning modules are all for free but if you want to take the certification exam for Blueprint, you will have to shell out $150.

Google Analytics Certification
Google Analytics can be intimidating and challenging but it’s one of the most powerful analytics tools that you will ever use in your digital marketing career. Being proficient in it can lead to better insights which can convert to significant lift in your digital sales. Among all the certifications, this is without a doubt the one I look for the most, especially if it’s for a growth hacking position.
This is an e-learning course which you can take on a special Google microsite and once you’ve passed the exam you’ll need to take it once every 18 months or else you lose your certification.

Google Adwords Certification
The Google Adwords Certification goes hand-in-hand with the Google Analytics Certification to ensure your proficiency and expertise in everything Google. With this certification you get to learn about media planning, buying, optimization, and creative best practices for Google banner ads, Search Engine Marketing, Video advertising (YouTube), and e-commerce advertising. It’s a solid e-learning course that digital marketers should take on especially if they’re still starting out.

HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certification
If you want to specialize in content marketing that drives conversions and revenue (and not just social media viral videos), this is the certification and training to get. HubSpot is one of the most powerful conversion-driven content marketing tools in the market and they offer a lot of e-learning courses for free. They have modules for e-mail marketing, content marketing, inbound sales, growth-driven design (UI/UX), and contextual marketing.

Certified Digital Marketer Program
Last, but definitely not the least, we have IMMAP’s Certified Digital Marketer Program. It’s one of the most expansive and up-to-date trainings you can get in the Philippines. Most of the lecturers are leading practitioners from agencies, publishers, and clients so you get a good perspective of how digital works.
It’s quite expensive but you will be able to develop a solid foundation across the entire discipline of digital. Read more about it here.
Learning should never stop, especially in digital. Platforms constantly change and new ones just pop up every now and then which makes the terrain unpredictable. Continuous education and a willing mind that learns and unlearns is critical to be a successful digital marketer.
If you’re just starting out, you can already have an edge over everyone else just by taking the free courses and certification programs listed above. Even if you don’t have the money to pay for the certificate, you can still take the Facebook Blueprint learning program to be able to get the skills needed so you can perform at a high level when you jump into the world of digital marketing.
If you’re already an advertising or marketing veteran, you need the humility and the eagerness to learn again because the world has changed. The market has changed. We need to change with them.
